Skin tag removal

What is the Best Method for Removing Skin Tags?

Skin tags are the unsightly tags that appear on your skin. They look like small growths of your skin. Actually they are classified as tumors but rarely are they dangerous. They are more unappealing in appearance than they are a danger to your body. It is estimated that half of the population either has a skin tag now or has had one in the past. If you have ever had one, you have probably wanted it removed. That has led people to ask the basic question as to what is the best method for removing skin tags. The answer is one that you will hate to hear because the answer is “it depends.”

There are many different methods available for the removal of skin tags. Let me describe the many different options. Once you understand the methods that are available, then you can pick the best method for yourself.

The obvious solution is to visit your local doctor or dermatologist. These doctors have several different methods available for the treatment. The problem with these methods is that you have to pay for a doctor’s visit plus you might have to take time off from work for the visit.

A doctor can freeze off the skin wart. They use an oversized Q-tip to apply chemicals directly to the skin tag. This will be applied for several seconds. The end result is the skin tag is frozen and will drop away from the skin. This is a very fast and very effective method of treatment.

Doctors will also cut away the skin tag. Since the skin tag is an outward growth it is easy to snip it away. The doctor will use tweezers to pull the skin tag away slightly from your skin and then will snip it off at the base of the skin. This might result in some bleeding but it will stop in a few minutes. Some people may not feel comfortable with having part of their skin cut off.

Another option that does not involve the cost and time of visiting a doctor’s office is an over the counter solution. Recently a home remedy solution that mimics the process of freezing was released on the market. You can purchase this at any pharmacy store. You apply this to your skin tag. It will freeze it and the skin tag will fall off.

It is possible to cut the skin tag at home without having to visit a doctor’s office. The process of cutting is straight forward. Most people will use a very sharp pair of scissors and a pair of tweezers to cut off the skin tag. If the skin tag is located in an area that is hard to reach like your back, you can get someone else to cut it for you.

Natural remedies involve the mixing of castor oil and baking soda to make a paste. This paste is applied to the skin tag. This is a very effective home remedy and the skin tag will drop off.
