Skin Tags Cause – Are You at Risk?
Do you know what an acrochordon is? You may not but you would know it by its common term which
is a skin tag. Now that you know what an acrochordon is I bet you probably have a skin tag on your
body right now or had one recently. Skin tags are a growth of the skin that are generally
harmless.
Skin tags are more likely to form in areas of your body where your skin might rub up against
other skin. This means that your neck, armpit, eyelid and groin are the most likely places for you
to get a skin tag. Even though these are the most common locations for skin tags, it is possible to
get a skin tag on any part of your body.
A skin tag might arise if your clothes rub against your body on a regular basis. Women might bet
them from having the bra straps rubbing at their skin all day. Tight fighting clothes can run your
skin and cause the appearance of a skin tag. Having something rub against your skin on a regular
basis does not guarantee the appearance of a skin tag; it just greatly increases the chances that a
skin tag might appear.
The biggest danger from a skin tag is that they are unsightly or sometimes are uncomfortable.
Most people that have them want to have them removed because of their appearance. If a skin tag
appears in an area like your armpit or eyelid or other areas, they can be very uncomfortable. For
this reason most people that have skin tags have them removed.
Doctors are not entirely sure of what causes a skin tag. They are aware that certain conditions
and ages are more likely to have a higher occurrence of skin tags. There are several conditions
that a person might go through that result in a greater chance of getting skin tags. These
conditions can include:
• Diabetics that have a resistance to insulin
• Pregnant women who have an increase in hormones in their body
• People who carry the HPV virus
• Illegal Steroids
You might wonder why illegal steroids might be on the list. Many people take steroids or hormones
to increase the size of their muscles or body mass. These steroids encourage growth in your body.
The growth from the steroids might cause an increase in the growth of skin tags on your body.
Skin tags are technically classified as tumors. It is possible for a skin tag to stay one size
and then start to grow. In rare cases a skin tag can growth can be the result of cancerous cells.
If this happens then you should consider letting a doctor test the skin tag for cancer.
Skin tags can occur at any stage in your life. Unfortunately it is not a condition that impacts
you in your younger life that you eventually out grow like acne. Instead you may be subjected to
getting skin tags at any age.
