Plantar warts are warts caused by the Human Papilloma
Virus which is also known as HPV. They only appear on the bottom of
your feet. They can be very painful because they are irritated every time you stand, walk or
run. Because of this pain most people try to get rid of the plantar warts as soon as they
appear on the bottom of their feet. There are several treatments available for plantar wart
removal. Some of the treatments can be completed by a doctor while others are effective home
remedy treatments for plantar wart removal. You can chose to use either a treatment by a
doctor or an over the courter treatment or use a home remedy treatment for plantar wart removal.
Mild Acids
This is a home remedy treatment for plantar wart removal. This usually involves using a mixture or
over the counter product that contains salicylic acid. This mixture is applied directly to the
plantar warts. This method of treatment is effective but it can take several days or weeks before
the plant wart is removed. It is possible to have scaring of the skin around the plantar wart area.
This is because you are applying acid directly to your skin. If pain or scaring occurs it is
recommended to stop using this meth of treatment.
Cryotherapy
Cryotherapy is a treatment for plantar wart removal that is done by a doctor. This treatment
involves the freezing of the plantar wart. The doctor will apply chemicals directly to the plantar
wart or warts on the bottom of your feet. The application of the chemicals does not hurt. The
chemicals are held onto the infected area for several seconds. This results in freezing the skin
area and having the plantar wart fall off.
The only negative of cryotherapy is the cost. Paying for a doctor visit can be expensive. Plus
you might have to take time off from work to visit the doctor. The positive for this type of
treatment for plantar wart removal is that it is very effective. The plantar warts are usually
removed with just one visit to the doctor.
Duct Tape
This is the oldest home remedy used for plantar wart removal. It is based on the premise that the
plantar wart needs air to breathe so it can live. If you cut off this supply of oxygen then you can
starve the plantar wart until it dies. Duct tape is used to wrap the plantar wart. The area needs
to be wrapped very tightly. You do not want any oxygen to work its way in to the plantar wart. You
may need to have several overlapping layers of wrapping of the plantar wart. This is a very
effective home remedy.
Plantar warts are highly contagious. It is recommended that you do not go barefoot if you get
plantar warts. It is also recommended that you immediately dispose of any product used in the
treatment of your plantar warts. If someone comes in contact with these products, it is possible
that they can get infected with plantar warts.
